About Me

Anita Cordell resides in Kansas City as a VoiceOver, On Camera and Print Actress and has been on stage nearly all of her life whether playing her clarinet, singing with her syblings, acting in church plays, or performing on the piano. Her desire, though, to be in this industry as a professional, did not birth until after her teens. Her love for live theatrical performances increasingly grew as an adult and led to over a dozen shows including Tribulation Christmas (Lisa - Featured Soloist), Patmos Remembrance (Mary), The Alabaster Jar (Esther), Another Year Already Here (Janey), Regrets (Carol) and more. In 2007, she began her film career and has already been in over 30 Commercials, including one recently with Chef Curtis Stone. From 2008-2010, Anita was proudly added to the recurring cast of The Three-Time Emmy® award winning Steve & Kathy Show where she has played multiple roles, including a Trailer Park Pastor's Wife, Anna Alabama, and the infamous hillibilly named Betty. The show also won 65 Telly Awards and held the No. 1 Nielsen Ratings for its time slot in two major markets. Anita has also worked in over 30 film projects including two award winning films: ALPHA, BRAVO, CHARLIE and BONNIE & CLYDE VS. DRACULA. She also co-starred in PITCHING HOPE, which is to be completed in the Fall of 2011. And she also holds the starring role in LIVING WATERS, her first short film to co-produce. Anita has also had the distinct honor of sitting on a panel of judges for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) to judge Regional Emmy® nominations since 2008.She is represented by Exposure, Inc., in Overland Park, KS; the Linda Layman Agency in Tulsa, OK, and the Jana VanDyke Agency in Atlanta, GA. Anita has a BA in Business and Marketing from the University of Kansas. She is married and has 3 beautiful children.

NewsDecember 17th is the Red Carpet Premiere for THE FREEDOM OF SILENCE film where Anita had a supporting role.WORKS IN PROGRESS, directed by Stephen W. Pruitt, will be coming out on DVD 10-25-11. Anita has been nominated as Best Actress for her role in LIVING WATERS for the short film contest at the Gideon Media Arts Festival in 2011. Anita co-stars in the feature film PITCHING HOPE, directed by Tony Mendoza. The film will have a private screening for industry professionals at the Gideon Media Arts Conference & Film Festival in August. Anita just completed a commercial shoot working alongside Chef Curtis Stone.Anita was selected by ManKind Pictures to be featured in a Documentary of the life of 2 Kansas City actresses. The Reverse Angle Jonah
Anita was hired by author Pamela Sonnenmoser to create a short demo video for her recently published book titled BESIDE THE EMPTY CRADLE. Pamela is using this video during her travels and speaking engagements to spread the word of her book. This book is her journey of infertility. She wanted to share how she overcame some of the heartaches and live stronger in her acceptance to her path.
This project, starring Leanne Duffy, is now making appearances at film festivals, the first being IFFF - which is The International Family Film Festival in Hollywood, CA. Please follow the project on the fanpage. This short film is about a young girl who received a special gift from her father. This special gift created a strong bond between the two, but tragedy strikes when her father gets in trouble and she is not able to use her gift to help him. The story unfolds her healing of guilt.
COMING SOON: This project is Anita's first animation to produce. Written by Denny Brownley, it is a short film about the Biblical story of Jonah, from the whales perspective. This comedic short will be enjoyable by all ages. By clicking on the picture above, you will see a 6 second clip of the city that the whale lives in. Working with animator, Steve Cypert, has been a treat. Stay tuned for more updates.
Anita Co-Produced LIVING WATERS with Real Media, LLC for the 2011 168 Film Project that is based out of Los Angelas. This project is a contest where teams from all over the world receive a Bible verse & have to cast, shoot, edit and score in 168 hours in order to qualify for any awards. Anita's film is about a Private Investigator who must face some of her childhood pain when she takes on a domestic abuse case. Anita was Nominated as BEST ACTRESS for the Gideon Short Film Contest sponsored by Experience Studios for this project.
Anita Co-Produced this project with one of Kansas City's favorite Film Makers - Ty Jones. Ever wondered what "youTheology" was all about? Check out this introductory video about the pan-Methodist, youth leadership development, and youth worker resourcing program of St. Paul School of Theology.
